Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: Though Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has achieved a milestone by becoming the second longest serving Chief Minister in India, he is accused of not keeping most of his promises made to the people of the State.

The Chief Minister had announced that 75 lakh farmers will get Rs 10,000 per annum under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme. Currently, only 44 lakh farmers are given Rs 4,000 only in two equal instalments in a year in the name of KALIA assistance. Where did the remaining 31 lakh farmers go? asked a BJP leader.

In 2014, the BJD government had promised that the water from Indravati river would be given to people of Nabarangpur district. So far, the State government has done nothing in this regard.

In 2016, the Chief Minister had promised to provide the entire land cost and bear partial expenses for two ambitious railway projects of Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri. However, the State government is yet to acquire an inch of land for the two projects.

Here are other promises which the BJD government has failed to fulfil in the last two decades.

The Chief Minister had promised that by 2019, all the poor people will be provided with puccka houses and electricity from the State government's funds. For this, the Modi government has allocated crores of rupees, but the BJD government did not do anything about it.

CM Naveen had promised to create irrigation potential of at least 35 per cent in each block with one cold storage, land patta for all homestead landless families, housing for all and employment through massive industrialisation. However, this is far from the reality in most parts of the State.

The Chief Minister had assured granting district status to Padampur sub-division by December 31, 2023. However, this remains a promise.

All the promises made by CM Naveen remain unfulfilled even after 24 years, the BJP leader added.
