Odisha: Bhitarkanika Reopens For Visitors After 9 Days

Kendrapara, Jan 14: The Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapara has once again opened for visitors after nine days of closure. 

The nine day closure was enforced from January 5 to 13 to facilitate the annual census of crocodiles and migratory birds in the sanctuary.

According to he crocodile census, a total of 1,811 crocodiles have been counted in the Delta area of Mahanadi river and canals of the sanctuary this year. 

There has been an increase of 18 crocodiles compared to last years 1,793  crocodiles.
