Odisha: 5 Students Arrested, Suspended From Keonjhar Govt Engineering College For ‘Ragging’

Keonjhar, Nov 6: Police arrested five students of a government engineering college here in Odisha on Wednesday on the charge of assaulting a junior student during ragging.

The accused students were also suspended from the Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar for a year by the authorities of the institute in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday night, the accused students allegedly barged into the room of Biswajit Behera, a junior student, and physically assaulted him with a stick and an iron rod, leaving him critically injured.

Biswajit was rescued in a critical codnition and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here.

Later, Biswajit’s family members lodged a complaint at the Keonjhar Town Police Station in this connection based on which the accused students were arrested.
