Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: People's mood to eat non-veg dishes prepared from fish, crabs, prawns, chicken and mutton seems to have marred as the much-awaited 'Chhadakhai' falls on Tuesday, i.e. today.

However, non-veg markets are likely to witness a heavy rush tomorrow, i.e. Wednesday as people are expected to hold a shadow 'Chhadakhai' to their mental satisfaction.

"Tuesday is not a non-veg day. Non-veg items are mostly eaten on Wednesdays. We will certainly celebrate Chhadakhai tomorrow," said a resident of Rasulgarh.

To some, Tuesday is also not a complete veg day. "We could not eat non-veg for a month as our family members celebrated the holy Kartika month. Today is Chhadakhai Tithi. We have to observe it in true spirit," said another local person.

According to the information, people visited non-veg markets at different places in the city. Though the rush was thin, sellers sold fish, crabs, prawns, chicken and mutton at good prices. People were also seen buying eggs and dry fish.

It may be noted that Chhadakhai is a Tithi on the Hindu calendar falls the next day of Kartika Purnima. As per practice, people who observe Kartika Brata in the month of Kartika don't eat non-veg food items. They relish such food items on the Chhadakhai.
