NIT Rourkela: Annual Tech Fest ‘Innovision 2024’ Begins With Auto, Drone, And Robotics Showcases

Rourkela, Nov 9: The 3-day annual tech-fest ‘Innovision’ at NIT Rourkela commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, faculty, staff and enthusiastic students at the BB Auditorium-NITR,officials said on Saturday.

Organized by the Technical Society of the Student Activity Centre (SAC), Innovision is one of Eastern India's most anticipated technology festivals, drawing participants from across the country.

Innovision is an immersive tech fest that brings together students from various colleges to present and celebrate innovative engineering and technology projects, offering a platform for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Prof. Kaustav Chaudhury and Prof. Tirthankar Sarkar, Vice Presidents of the Technical Society, convened this three-day event.

Inaugurating the event, Chief Guest Ram Mohan Mishra (Retd. Director, Planning. Rourkela  Development Authority) delivered a compelling speech on the importance of fostering innovation and maintaining a focused mind in the fast-paced digital era. Highlighting the rapid technological advancements, the Chief Guest emphasized that “Smartphones and digital platforms have redefined communication, uniting the world like never before. We encourage everyone here to bring forth their most innovative ideas and make the most of this platform.”

Themed "Technoverse, Navigating the tech cosmos and shaping the future landscape," Innovision 2024 aims to ignite creativity and push boundaries with a dynamic lineup of events. The inauguration featured exciting demonstrations, including a gesture-controlled drone show and a humanoid robot showcase, captivating the audience.

Director of NIT Rourkela, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, also addressed the audience, applauding the spirit of innovation displayed by the participants. “Innovision is not only a showcase of technology but also a celebration of collaboration and creativity. I encourage all to seize this opportunity to learn, connect, and innovate for a brighter digital future,” he shared.

With over 60 events on the roster, including VR exhibitions, Drone Displays, Robo Races, Maze Hunts, Code Hunts, Auto Shows, guest lectures, and artistic showcases, Innovision offers an immersive experience for attendees.

Reflecting on the theme, Prof. Rajeev Kumar Panda, President of the Student Activity Centre, remarked, “This year’s Innovision is designed to be a digital paradise where technology meets vision. We welcome participants from across India to experience the spirit of NIT Rourkela, where every heart beats for innovation and every mind quests for a better future.”

With an estimated 5000 participants, including students from NIT Rourkela and over 600 from other reputed institutions, Innovision 2024 has once again proven its popularity. To ensure a comfortable stay, NIT Rourkela has arranged accommodations for all external participants.

 Each year, Innovision cultivates an environment where technology enthusiasts gather to exchange ideas and create lasting memories. The festival stands as a testament to the boundless creativity and potential of the next generation of innovators.
