Nabarangpur, Dec 30: The villagers of Deobharandi under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district staged a dharna, demanding compensation for a five-year-old child who lost his life in a tragic road accident this morning. 

The deceased, Gourab Kumar Korom, was a resident of Chhattisgarh. 

According to information, a truck ran over Gourab while he was crossing the road, killing him on the spot. He along with his parents was visiting Deobharandi to take part in a relative's 10th day of death ritual. He was about to return to his home this evening. 

The truck was heading towards Vishakhapatnam from Raipur. Angry locals gathered at the accident site and staged a road blockade keeping the deceased's body there. 

Due to the accident, vehicular movement on the Nabarangpur-Raipur road was disrupted. 

On being informed, police reached the spot and tried to placate the agitators. 

A pall of gloom descended on the locality following the death of the child.
