Nabarangpur: Teen Killed, Another Injured In Group Clash During Durga Idol Immersion

Nabarangpur, Oct 15: A teenage boy was killed, and another boy sustained severe injuries in a group clash during the immersion procession of Goddess Durga here in Odisha on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Kiran Gadba, a resident of Dansi street in Nabarangpur town.

Another minor boy, identified as Tejab Harijan of the same locality, is fighting for life at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Nabarangpur.

As per reports, two minors were stabbed following a conflict between the groups during the immersion procession of Goddess Durga late last night.

The injured duo was rescued in critical condition and rushed to the DHH here, where Kiran succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The victims’ family lodged a complaint at the Nabarangpur police station in this regard and demanded immediate arrest and stringent punishment of the culprit.

Hundreds of women staged demonstration in front of the police station late last night to press their demand.

Meanwhile, police detained seven persons in this connection.

“The motive behind the group clash is yet to be ascertained. We have detained seven suspects in connection with this case and further investigation is underway," a senior police officer said.
