More Than 70 Elephants Create Menace In Balasore Villages

Balasore, Mar 21: A herd of more than 70 elephants from Jharkhand created menace in several villages across Gram Panchayats of Sardabandha, Raibania and Olamara in Balasore district late on Wednesday night. 

The elephants damanged crops on acres of agricultural fields and terrorised the human habitations. 

According to the villagers, the jumbos entered Sardabandha by passing through Jharagram village of West Bengal.

On being informed, the Jaleswar forest department rushed to the spot along with the Mahouts to ward off them.

The elephants got separated into two groups. One group got towards the Kalajodi jungle and another troupe is in the cashew forests in Raibania fort.
