More Steps To Be Taken To Make Rath Yatra A Smooth Affair: Minister Harichandan

Bhubaneswar, July 10: Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan Wednesday said more steps will be taken for the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra rituals, including Bahuda Yatra, in the coming days. 

Terming yesterday's incident during Pahandi a minor mishap, the Minister said no harm was caused to the Bhagawan (Lord Balabhadra) but some servitors suffered minor injuries. He said the Chief Minister had been informed about the happening last night. 

"It is a minor happening. No harm was caused to Bhagawan. Some servitors suffered minor injuries. An inquiry report has already been sent to the Chief Minister. He is well aware of the situation," said Harichanan. 

He and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida reviewed yesterday's Pahandi incident with concerned officers and servitors.  

The Minister said more steps will be taken to make the entire Rath Yatra process incident-free. Special care would be taken for the smooth conduct of Bahuda Yatra, added he. 

He said the presence of some non-servitors on the Rath has come to the government's knowledge. The district administration has been directed to ensure that none other than servitors should be allowed atop Raths. 

The Law Minister further said two groups of servitors quarreled over some issue inside the temple. However, the matter was resolved with the intervention of the district Collector.
