Mohan Majhi Named New Chief Minister Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 11: Four-time Keonjhar MLA, Mohan Charan Majhi was elected as the Leader of BJP Legislative Party in Odisha on Tuesday. He will be the next Chief Minister of the State. 

The 52-year-old tribal leader won the Keonjhar Assembly seat in the just concluded Odisha assembly elections, defeating Biju Janata Dal's Mina Majhi by 11,577 votes. 

KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida were announced as Deputy Chief Ministers of Odisha.

The decision was announced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh after the meeting of the party's newly-elected MLAs here.

The BJP got a majority in the 147-member House by winning 78 assembly seats, ending Naveen Patnaik's 24-year tenure as Chief Minister.
