Minor Boy Killed, Sister Critical In Lightning Strike In Kandhamal

Phulbani, Mar 20: A minor boy was killed and his sister sustained severe burn injuries after lightning struck them near their village in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Wednesday.

As per reports, the incident occurred near Subarnagiri village under the Kotagarh police station limits in the district this afternoon when the siblings had gone to village end to collect mahua flowers.

The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Pradhani. His sister Supriya Pradhani was critically injured in the mishap.

When the siblings and others were collecting mahua flowers, heavy rain accompanied by lightning suddenly occurred in the area.

Following rain, all of them took shelter under the mahua tree but they were hit by lightning strikes.

After getting information, family members and other villagers rushed to the spot and found the siblings in critical condition.

The siblings were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Subarnagiri where the doctors declared Mukesh as "brought dead''. After primary treatment, the injured girl was shifted to Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital for further treatment.

On being informed, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
