Man, Daughter Die Of Snakebite In Boudh

Boudh/Phulbani, Oct 19: In a tragic incident, a man and his minor daughter died due to snakebite at Chari Chhak area in Odisha’s Boudh district on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Sushant Kanhar and his daughter Subhasmita Kanhar. Sushant, a schoolteacher, hailed from Gumagarh village under Phulbani block in Kandhamal district. He was posted at Chari Chhak and was staying with his family at a rented house, there.

According to sources, a poisonous snake entered the house of Sushant and bit him and his daughter, while they were in deep sleep.

Sushant woke up screaming with a severe pain in his leg and alerted his family and found that his daughter was also suffering from the same pain.

Family members and neighbours rushed them to the Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital, where the father-daughter duo died while undergoing treatment.

After getting information, police reached the spot and started qn investigation into the incident.

A pall of gloom descended the village due to the untimely demise of the teacher and his daughter.
