Malkangiri Police Arrest Two For Impersonating As SDPO, Bank Manager

Malkangiri, Nov 27: Malkangiri police arrested two persons from Bhubaneswar on charges of impersonating themselves as SDPO and Bank Manager and duping people of lakhs of rupees. 

The two arrested persons have been identified as Kartika Routray (33) and Ekana Pani 30, both of Sorada village under Nuagaon police station limits in Nayagarh district. But Kartika was staying in the Banki area in Cuttack district and Ekana in the Ghatikia under the Bharatpur police station limits in rented houses to pursue illegal activities. 

According to the police, the two used to lure people with big promises and take bribes by impersonating themselves as SDPO and Bank Managers.  They duped a PEO  and a Sarpanch of Rs 10,000 and 18,000, respectively, by posing as Sub Divisional Police Officers. Besides, they duped a senior lawyer of Rs 10,000 by posing as advocates of the High Court. Again, they duped another lawyer of Malkangiri of Rs 10,000 by impersonating themselves as Managers of the Central Bank.  

Their criminal acts came to the fore after some people complained about them at the Malkangiri Model Police Station. 

Acting on the complaints, a special investigating team led by SI Sarbeswar Bhoi conducted an investigation and arrested them from Bhubaneswar. 

After interrogation, they were forwarded to court.
