Malkangiri, July 20: Landslides at Bonda ghat triggered by incessant rain in the past few days disrupted road communication in Odisha's Malkangiri district on Saturday.

According to sources, landslides at Bonda ghat disrupted road communication between Mudilipada and Khairput in the district.

Heavy rain led to some rivers swelling and water flowing over some bridges in the district.

Water was flowing one to two ft over Pangam river bridge on National Highway No- 326, disrupting road connectivity between Malkangiri and neighbouring Koraput district.

The incessant rain also inundated several low lying areas in many places in the district, sources said.

However, no human casualties were reported due to the heavy rainfall in the district so far.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for extremely heavy rainfall over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi districts.
