Berhampur, Mar 31: A major mishap was miraculously averted even as an LPG-laden tanker overturned on National Highway-16 near Khallikote in Ganjam district this morning. The driver of the tanker suffered injuries.  

According to the information, the tanker was on its way from Vishakhapatnam to Khordha when it overturned at a place, about 400 meters away from the Khallikote police station. The police closed the roads in all directions as a precautionary measure to avert any mishap that may happen in case a leakage occurs. The fire team, crane, and officials of the LPG company rushed to the spot. 

The injured driver, identified as Manoj Kumar Yadav, has been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Khallikote. 

People living in a nearby slum have panicked due to the overturning of the LPG tanker. They have even stopped cooking since the mishap occurred. However, the local Tehsildar convinced them not get panicked as all precautionary measures are being taken.
