Legendary Singer Pankaj Udhas Dies At 72

Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Veteran Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away due to a prolonged illness, family sources said on Monday. He was 72.

His daughter Nayaab Udhas took to Instagram to share the news.

 "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness." Nayaab posted on Instagram.

The Gujarat-born singer was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006, and is known for rendering many hit songs in Bollywood in Hindi and other languages.

Among the evergreen ghazals that Pankaj Udhas lent his vocals to were 'Chitthi Aayi Hai', 'Chandani Raat Mein', 'Na Kajre Ki Dhaar', 'Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein', 'Ek Taraf Uska Ghar' and 'Thodi Thodi Piya Karo'.

The singer's demise left the music industry in shock and in grief.
