Bhubaneswar, June 15: The mortal remains of the two Odia people who died in the recent fire accident in Kuwait were brought to Bhubaneswar in Odisha by a special aircraft on Saturday, officials said.
The two victims from Odisha were identified as- Mohammed Jahur and Santosh Gouda.
Jahur was a resident of Karadapalli village under the Tigiria Police station area of Cuttack district while Gouda reportedly belonged to Ranajhali village in the Purushottampur area of Ganjam district.
Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida received the bodies at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar in the presence of senior officials from the State government and victims' family members.
The leaders paid their last respects to the departed souls at the airport.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is also scheduled to pay last respect to the deceased. He has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4lakh each to the families of two persons from the state who died in the recent Kuwait fire incident.
The State government has also made all arrangements to send the bodies to their respective native places.
Notably, as many as 45 Indians, including two from Odisha, died in the massive fire that broke out in a labour accommodation in Kuwait's Mangaf on June 12.
