Konark, Nov 6: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed, while another suffered critical injuries in a car accident near Konark, late Tuesday night.
As per reports, the car was coming from Bhubaneswar and heading towards Konark. The driver reportedly lost control and the car hit a roadside mango tree near Junei market under Konark police station limits.
The driver somehow survived but suffered critical injuries, while two others, who were inside the car, died on the spot.
The accident took place at around 1.30 am Wednesday. As per reports, the car was in full speed before it hit the tree as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Locals, after finding out about the accident, informed the Fire Department. The fire brigade arrived at scene and tried to rescue the trio.
However, two of them were already dead, while the driver was critically injured by the time the fire brigade rescued them. The fire brigade sent the trio to the Community Health Centre in Gop.
Reports say, the deceased duo has been identified as Bhubaneswar's Pradipta Behera and Biswajit Sahoo, a native from Kantapada of Cuttack district. The driver -- Tapas Sahoo -- is a native of Nuapatna village of Niali block.
