Keonjhar, Dec 24: In a tragic mishap, a youth reportedly drowned while cleansing himself in a pond in Kandara village under Joda police station limits in Keonjhr district this morning. 

The deceased has been identified as Sonu Naik. 

According to the information, Sonu went to the pond holding a toothbrush and bathing towel. After attending nature's call, he was washing when he slipped into the water as suspected by villagers. He was later found dead. 

After seeing his body floating on water, some children informed villagers, who then called for police. 
A team of Joda police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. 

Police have registered a case and started an investigation from different angles.
