Keonjhar: Police Foil Cattle Smuggling Bid, 1 Smuggler Injured In Counterattack

Keonjhar, Aug 11: Keonjhar Police successfully foiled a cattle (cow) smuggling bid near Pithagola village under Pandapada Police Station limit in Harichandanpur Tehsil early Sunday morning.

The event unfolded when police got the information of cattle smuggling and acted immediately. After finding out the whereabout of the involved vehicles -- three pickup vans -- and chased them.

However, the smugglers started firing at the police, which forced the police to counterattack. One of the smugglers got injured in the gunfight and he has been admitted to Keonjhar District Headquarter Hospital in critical condition. He was shot in both of his legs.

Police successfull seized the three vans, involved in the cow smuggling. However, two of the smugglers fled from the scene as the search is underway for the duo.

Police investigantion is underway and more information is awaited in this matter.
