Kendrapara: A Baby Gharial Caught From Luna River

Kendrapara, Oct 9: A baby Gharial, also known as also known as gavial or fish-eating crocodile, has been caught from Luna River near Basapur under Kendrapara Sadar Police Station.

Dolagobinda Mallik, a local of Aripada village, was at the river early Wednesday morning for fishing. However, to his surprise, a baby Gharial fell in the fishing net.

Later, with the efforts of locals, the crocodile was caught and tied up.

The locals have informed the matter to the Forest Department and made a demand to rescue the baby gharial and release it in Bhitarkanika.
