Cuttack, Dec 15: The Commissionerate police unraveled the mystery behind the killing of a woman in Cuttack's Kandarpur area by arresting three accused persons- the deceased's husband and two brothers-in-law.

Police said the accused persons killed the woman after suspecting her to be in an illicit relationship with another man.

The deceased woman was identified as Padmabati Samal, a resident of Mahakalapada. During the primary investigation, her husband Balaram Dehuri and two brothers-in-law Jagannath Dehuri and Happy Dehuri were found to have committed the crime.

People have appreciated the police as they unearthed the incident in just 30 hours and made the arrests. The Commisionerate police arrested the accused persons with the help of the Gujarat police.

A money receipt against the purchase of a pair of pants was recovered from near the dead body. This receipt was a big clue to arrest the culprits, said the police. The receipt showed the tailor shop was located in Surat. A digital wallet was used to make a refund of Rs 100. The police traced the mobile number linked to the digital wallet and reached Happy Dehuri first.

Based on Happy's revelation, the police arrested the other two accused persons. It was a pre-planned murder.
