Kalahandi: 74th Makar Mela Enters Sixth Day, Enthrals Visitors

Kalahandi, Jan 19: The 74th Makar Mela (fair) of Kursula under Karlamunda block in Kalahandi district enters sixth day today. 

The excitement among the visitors has not reduced even after five days of the fest and visitors can be seen flocking to take part and attend the fair in its 74th edition. 

Historically, this fair has been organised by the combined efforts of 44 villages. 

All kinds of stalls for the entertainment of the visitors have been set. People also buy utensils, clothes etc from this fair where many sellers have gathered from far off places. 

Starting from clothes to dry fruits to street food, you name it and it is there in the fair. Different types of rides, merry-go-round have found their place in the fair. 

"This Makar Mela symbolises the brotherhood among the 44 villages organising the fair. It only signifies the cultural richness of Kalahandi," said Chandra Sahu, a visitor.
