Jharsuguda, Apr 22: In another jolt to Jharsuguda BJD and its Assembly candidate, the party's senior organizer and woman leader Sukanti Jayapuria resigned from prime membership of the party today.

Jayapuria cited that she quit the BJD because she was neglected by the leadership despite her big contributions in strengthening the organisation in Jharsuguda.

She said she gave her blood and sweat for the party in the last 20 years but was not recognized by the party leadership.

"Women who have money are being respected in the BJD. The party doesn't give value to poor women. It has turned out to be a party of holigans. I want the BJD should be defeated," Jaypuria expressed her anguish.

Sources said Jayapuria is a known face in Laikera, Kirmira and Kolabira areas under the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency. She has many supporters in these areas. After winning local elections four times, she is currently serving as Sahaspur gram panchayat.

Local political analysts see Jayapuria's resignation as the second most jolt to BJD candidate Dipali Das ahead of Assembly elections.

Late Naba Das' close aide Ayan Sinha joined the BJP at a meeting at Sambalpur last evening.
