Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas: PM Modi To Visit Odisha’s Rourkela On November 15

Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Rourkela in Odisha on November 15 to attend the ‘Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas’ celebrations, paying tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th birth anniversary, informed Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons here, Naik said, “The Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas is celebrated on November 15 to pay tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate the celebrations at Rourkela this year.”

Notably, the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal leader who led a rebellion against the British, is being celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.

The day is also dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters so that coming generations can know about their sacrifices about the country.

Birsa Munda, who belonged to the Munda tribe, was born on November 15 in 1875.During the British rule in the late 19th century, he spearheaded an Indian tribal religious Millenarian movement across the tribal belt of modern-day Bihar and Jharkhand.
