Impending Cyclone Dana: Odisha Govt Restricts Doctors From Taking Leave

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: In view of the impending cyclone 'Dana' very likely to the Odisha coast between Puri and Sagar Island, the Odisha government has directed that doctors will not be allowed to take leave until normalcy is restored in the State. 

The Health Department has also directed concerned authorities to keep adequate quantum of medicines in stock in all hospitals for treatment of diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases and snakebites. There will be power backup if electricity is disconnected to hospitals due to the impending cyclone. 

Small health providers'  teams led by doctors will provide treatment to people in the areas that will be affected by impending Cyclone Dana. 

Teams will visit cyclone shelters to provide health services to affected people, said the department. The situation will be monitored through a control room. 

Department sources said people residing in low-lying areas are being shifted to cyclone shelters and other safer places.
