IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Thunderstorm, Lightning In Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar on Monday said the upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha now lies over south Odisha adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coast and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.

The IMD predicted thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Ganjam during the next 24 hours. It also issued a yellow weather warning for these five districts during the period.  

The weathermen also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places in the State till 8.30 AM on Tuesday.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 32.8°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.5°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha, the Met Centre said.
