Himalayan Vulture Of Rare Breed Rescued In Kandhamal

Phulbani, Jan 28: A vulture of a rare breed, which is seen on the Himalayas, was seen sitting on a branch of a tree in Dindira gram panchayat under Phiringia block in Kandhmal district on Sunday morning.   

The vulture, which looked pale, was rescued by forest personnel and provided treatment at a veterinary center. 

According to the information, the vulture was seen sitting on a tree on the riverbank at Telapalli village. On being informed by them, Phiringia Forest Ranger Rabindra Kumar Patra rescued the carnivorous bird. Later on the advice of Phulbani DFO, he took it to the Phulbani veterinary centre for treatment. 

DFO Prashant Patel said the vulture would be sent to Nandankanan Zoological Park after treatment.
