Heavy Rains To Lash Odisha For Five Days From July 7

Bhubaneswar, July 5: Heavy rain is likely to lash different parts of Odisha in the coming five days starting July 7 (Sunday) by the impact of a cyclonic circulation formed in the east-central Bay of Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predictions. 

The grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri is likely to be held amid a clemant wealther this year.  

According to the IMD predictions, a thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Ganjam on July 7.   
 
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rains in different parts of the State from July 7 to 11.  

Since the arrival of the monsoon, Odisha has witnessed 25 percent less rainfall with a total of 191.1 mm downpours. Normally, the State gets 255.83 mm of rainfall during this period. 

While 16 districts have recorded scanty rainfall, 11 have got normal rain. 

Among the 30 districts, Malkangiri has only recorded more than normal rainfall, according to Regional Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar.
