Heavy Rain To Lash Odisha In Next 5 Days; Red Alert Issued For Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: Heavy to very heavy rainfall, caused by a low-pressure formed over Beay Bengal, is likely to lash southern Odisha in the next five days, warned a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department.  

The IMD  has issued an orange warning predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) to occur at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam and a yellow warning of heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) to occur at isolated places in Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Nuapada, Bargarh, Boudh and Sonepur till 8.30 am on Friday. 

However, the IMD has issued a Red warning predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (More than 20cm) in Malkangiri, Koraput, and  Gajapati districts between the mornings of Friday and Saturday. 

An orange warning predicting rainfall between 7 and 20 cm has been issued to Rayagada, Ganjam, Nawarangpur and Kalahandi and yellow warning to the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur. 

The IMD has also issued orange and yellow warnings for the next two days.
