Heat Wave In Odisha: IMD Issues Yellow, Orange Alerts

Bhubaneswar, April 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that hot and humid weather conditions would prevail in Odisha for the next five days.

According to the IMD's latest bulletin, the day temperature is very likely to rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius or above at many places and above normal by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over some districts of Odisha during the next 3 days.

The Bhubaneswar  Meteorological Centre issued yellow and orange warnings for heatwave conditions over several districts in the State during the next five days.

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of April 18)
Yellow Warning (Be Updated)
Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Bargarh.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 18 to 8.30 AM of April 19)
Orange Warning(Be Prepared)
Heat wave to Severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Gajapati, Nayagarh.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)
Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Bargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 19 to 8.30 AM of April 20)
Orange Warning (Be Prepared)
Heat wave to Severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Gajapati and Nayagarh.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)
Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.

Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 20 to 8.30 AM of April 21)
Yellow Warning (Be Updated)

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.

Day 5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 21 to 8.30 AM of April 22)
Yellow Warning (Be Updated)

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Angul, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government today announced the closure of all schools in the State from April 18 to 20 in view of the IMD's heatwave forecast.
