Heat Wave Grips Odisha, Bhubaneswar Boils At 44.6°C

Bhubaneswar, Apr 27: Odisha witnessed severe heatwave conditions on Saturday as day temperatures crossed 41 degree Celsious mark in eight places at 2.30 PM.

According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, State Capital Bhubaneswar was the hottest place in the State at 44.6 degree Celsius, followed by 43.6 degree Celsius at Jharsuguda.

Other places recorded maximum temperature at or above 41 degree Celsius include Rourkela at 42.5 degree Celsius, Chandabali at 42.4 degree Celsius, Sambalpur at 42.1 degree Celsius, Hirakud at 41.8 degree Celsius, Balasore 41.7 degree Celsius and Keonjhar at 41.5 degree Celsius.

The Meteorological Centre issued red and orange warnings of heat wave conditions over several districts till May 2.

"Heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Khordha, Cuttack during next 24 hours,"  the Met Centre predicted.
