Bhubaneswar, Apr 26: The searing heat wave conditions continued unabated across Odisha on Friday. The mercury levels soared to over 40 degree Celsius at seven places in the state at 2.30 PM.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Jharsuguda continued to remain the hottest place in the state for the second consecutive day, recording the maximum temperature of 43.5 degree Celsius.
Jharsuguda was followed by Sambalpur and Hirakud each at 43 degree Celsius, Rourkela at 42 degree Celsius, Keonjhar at 41.8 degree Celsius, Chandbali at 41.6 degree Celsius and Bhubaneswar at 40.5 at degree Celsius.
"Due to prevailing mainly North Westerly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is very likely to rise gradually by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at many places in Odisha during the next three days. Consequently the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be above normal by 4 to 6 degree Celsius over some districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days," the Met Centre predicted.
The IMD, in its midday bulletin today, issued red and orange warnings of heat wave conditions over several districts in the State till 8.30 AM on May 1.
