Bhubaneswar, Sep 6: Sujeet Kumar, who joined the BJP soon after quiting BJD and Rajya Sabha seat, said he is happy to join the saffron party.
"I am very happy to join the BJP. I have been inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Viksit Bharat programme. I can now work for the development of Kalahandi district," Kumar told the media.
Kumar alleged that he was fed up at corruption practices in the previous government for which development work in Kalahandi district was stalled.
"Government officers have misappropriated crores of rupees. Some so-called district and State level BJD leaders were protecting them. I was fed up as I had come to politics to work for the development of Kalahandi district," said Sujeet Kumar.
He said he had brought these matters to the notice of BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik before and after elections but to no avail.
"Last time, I met BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on June 13 and apprised him about government officers and party leaders misappropriating public money. I waited for three months but didn't get any response," said Sujeet Kumar.
He said he will provide data against his claims in coming days.
