Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida Friday inquired about the Bharatpur police station incident from DCP Prateek Singh and met victim Ankita Pradhan at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

The Deputy Chief Minister said stringent action would be taken against all who would be found responsible in incidents in which an Army Major and his fiancee were allegedly harassed by road Romeos and then by cops at the Bharatpur police station.

"Our government is committed to zero tolerance to crime. Nobody can hinder it," Parida said after meeting Ankita at the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

Stating that the DGP has suspended five cops, Parida said, "I met the girl on the advice of the Chief Minister. The government has kept vigil on the matter. Whoever may be the offender, I, as Deputy Chief Minister, assure stringent action against him," said Parida.

Parida said the condition of the girl, Ankita, was fine but the ordeal she went through has upset her mentally.

Earlier in the day, the Commissionerate police nabbed seven miscreants who reportedly harassed the Army Major and his fiancee on the road on September 15 night. They were interrogated at the Chandaka police station.
