Bolangir, June 29: In a heartrending incident, a poor minor boy from Odisha, who had gone to work as a migrant labourer in a brick kiln in Andhra Pradesh seven days back, died there allegedly due to hard work and torture.

The tragic incident came to the fore after his body was brought to his native Kushapali village under the Tureikela police station limits in Bolangir district this morning. The deceased was identified as Kushadhar Baharia.

A pall of gloom descended on the village as his body reached his house today.

According to the information, the family's poverty had forced Kushadhar to go outside to earn a livelihood working as a migrant labourer.   He had reportedly been hired by an unauthorized Dadan Sardar to the distant workplace.

He reportedly died after being tortured by a brick kiln owner.  His body was brought to his village by a licensed Sardar, said family members.

Villagers have demanded that the district administration conduct an investigation and provide necessary financial support to the bereaved family.
