Khordha, Oct 13: A minor boy sustained a bullet injury as the cartridge fired from a country-gun missed its target and rebounded after hitting a house wall in a village in Khordha district on Sunday.

The condition of the injured boy is stated to be stable.

The disturbing incident occurred at Dixitpada village under the Tangi police station limits in the district.

According to the information, some people of the 'Kelaa' community have been staying in the village as nomadic for many days. They include Rabi Nayak and Shiva Nayak, who are sibling brothers. For a trivial matter, a quarrel ensued between them. During this time, Rabi, in a fit of rage, took out a country-made gun and fired at his elder brother Shiva.  However, Shiva was lucky as the bullet missed him and hit a wall. The bullet then rebounded and hit a small boy. The boy received a minor injury. He was rushed to a nearby hospital soon. He was found stable following a primary treatment.

Informed from hearsay,  the Tangi police rushed to the village, arrested the two brothers, and seized the country-made gun.

IIC Sushant Kumar Behera is investigating the case.
