Female Tusker Dies Of Electrocution In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj, Sept 12: An female elephant died after coming in contact with live wires at Jamsuli village under Betnoti forest Range in Mayurbhanj district in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the reports, the female tusker came in contact with a live electric wire meant to protect the paddy crop and died.

A herd of 11 wild elephants was roaming in the Badampur area under the Betnoti Forest Range. A female elephant separated from the herd when the forest department officials were busy patrolling the area at night.

The forest officials reached the spot and started an investigation into this matter.
