Balangir, Oct 10: Police arrested a fake doctor from Tikarapada Ranapada under the Saintala police station limits in Balangir district on Thursday.

The arrestee had been identified as Bidyut Kumar Biswal, a resident of Tikrapada village.

According to the information, Biswal didn't have formal education or knowledge of medicine but had been checking patients and selling drugs for many years. Acting on complaints, the Saintala police conducted raids on his clinic and arrested him.

Besides, the police also seized huge quantities of medicines from his possession.

While illegally run clinics headed by quacks are operating rampantly in the Saintala area, the arrest of Biswal has been an eye-opener for people to become conscious of such fake doctors.

A few days back, the Titilagarh police arrested such a fake doctor from the nearby Putili village and forwarded him to the court.
