Mohana, Mar 24: In a tragic mishap, an elderly man was killed after being hit by a scooty near Badasindhaba village under the Mohana police station in Gajapati district this morning. 

The deceased was identified as Niban Gamang of the nearby Dariamba village. 

According to the information, the elderly man was going to some place of the foot when a scooty coming at a high speed hit him from the back. He was critically injured. He was declared dead in a hospital later. 

The scooterist managed to escape from the public anger, leaving his scooty behind at the incident place. 

On being informed, the Chandragiri police reached the spot and started an investigation.
