Bhubaneswar, Apr 20: Odisha witnessed severe heat wave conditions on Saturday as eight places in the State recorded 40 degree Celsius or above by 2.30 PM.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Keonjhar was the hottest place in the State at 43.5 degree Celsius by 2.30 PM, followed by 43.2 degree Celsius at Jharsuguda.
Six other places recorded maximum temperature at or above 40 degree Celsius. They include Sambalpur at 42.7 degree Celsius, Rourkela at 42.6 degree Celsius, Hirakud at 42.6 degree Celsius, Chandbali at 41.4 degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar at 40.5 degree Celsius and Balasore at 40.2 degree Celsius.
The Meteorological Centre forecast that heat wave conditions will prevail in Odisha till April 22.
The weather department issued orange and yellow warnings of heat wave conditions for several districts in the state during the next three days.
