Dussehra Fest Ends: Traffic Guidelines For Immersion Festival In Bhubaneswar, Cuttack Today

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: With Dussehra festivities ending, the police administration issued a set of traffic guidelines for the smooth conduct of Bhasani Utsav (immersion festival) in the twin-city Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Monday. 

The traffic guidelines will be enforceable from 3 pm till the end of immersion of Durga idols. 

According to the guidelines, vehicles can't move on the Vani Vihar- Rupali Square road. The vehicles have to move via Acharya Square. Vehicles coming from CRP Square and intending to move towards Cuttack will have to run on the Ekamra Park- Biju Patnaik College Road. 

Traffic guidelines were also issued for Cuttack city where immersion festival is celebrated in a grand way. 

Vehicles will not be allowed to move from KIIT Square towards Nalco Square. 

Heavy vehicles coming from Khordha side can take fly-over from Fire Station Square to go to their destination. Violaters will be slapped with a fine ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1000. 

As many as five temporary ponds have been dug in the Daya and Kuakhai Rivers for immersion of idols. Around Rs 21 lakh has been spent for digging of each pond. 

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has urged Pandal authorities to keep in mind that enviroment and river water are not polluted due to immersion of idols. Used flowers, leaves and other materials should also be dumped in the ponds, advised the BMC. 

Cuttack Municipal Corporation CMC has constructed 3 shallow ponds on the Kathajodi River Bank at Devigda for disposal of Devi Durga idols. Apart from this, the CMC has given focus ofn sanitation, street cleaning and lighting issues. Extensive arrangements have been made by the Commissionerate police to ensure that the Bhasani procession is carried out in a peaceful manner. As many as 70 platoons of police force along with 35 aid posts have been deployed.

Bhashan Utsav is celebrated in a grand way in the millennium city.
