Diwali 2024: Pollution Control Board In Odisha Issues Guidelines For Bursting Crackers

Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) in Odisha on Tuesday issued guidelines for the bursting of crackers on the occasion of ensuing Diwali this year.

In its guidelines The SPCB appealed people to celebrate Diwali by burning earthen lamps and burst green fire crackers between 7 PM and 9 PM on Diwali evening.

"Celebrate Deepavali by burning Diyas only and limit the bursting of fire crackers between 7 PM and 9 PM only. Also avoid bursting of series fire crackers and crackers generating a peak noise level of 125 dBA," the SPCB said.

The pollution control board also directed people to avoid bursting crackers near slums, gardens/parks, in silence zones, such as areas comprising 100 meters around hospitals, educational institutions, courts, religious places and silence zones as declared by the competent authority.
