The IMD predicted the system will maintain its deep depression intensity until the evening, then gradually weaken into a depression by midnight on September 9. Afterward, it is expected to move west-northwestwards across Chhattisgarh over the next 24 hours.

Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in many places in Odisha during next three days, according the IMD’s latest bulletin.

The Bhubaneswar Met Centre issued a 'red alert' for Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Balangir and Boudh districts and ‘orange warning’ for the districts of Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Gajapati during the next 24 hours.
