Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: As a precautionary measure for Cyclone Dana, the Odisha government has admitted as many as 4,431 pregnant women to different healthcare facilities in various coastal districts of the State, and 1,600 of them delivered babies, informed the Chief Minister’s office on Thursday night.
All the newborns and their mothers are in good health, the CMO said.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the landfall process of Cyclone 'Dana' commenced in the intervening nights of October 24 and 25 and is expected to continue till the morning hours of Friday.
The cyclone is expected to make landfall early Friday between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port in Odisha, the IMD predicted.
More than 6 lakh people have been evacuated from vulnerable areas in the State and moved to cyclone shelters where cooked food is being provided, officials said.
