Cuttack Murder Case: Police Arrest Man Absconding For 4 Days After Committing Crime

Cuttack, Sept 16: Chauliaganj Police have arrested one of the accused in connection with the shocking murder case in the Silver City's Mahandi Vihar.

The accused, identified as Anurag Mohanty, was involved with his elder brother -- Ansuman Mohanty -- in a heartwrenching crime.

Reportedly, the sibling duo brutally killed their mother -- Anima Mohanty -- late September 13 night. According to reports, Ansuman and Anurag allegedly killed Anima by slitting her throat.

Police had arrested Ansuman the next day -- September 14 -- after receiving the information. Police began investigation in connection with the Mahanadi Vihar crime as Anurag was absconding.

The police investigation has revealed that the accused committed the crime in anger and frustration. 

After the death of Anima's husband and daughter, the family was going through tough times. Reportedly, Ansuman and Anurag didn't have jobs. So Anima was somehow running the family by selling things at home.

She used to have arguments over the sibling duo's marriages as well as their jobless lives. Frustrated and angered with the daily conflicts with their mother, Ansuman and Anurag committed the heinous act.

The accused also tried to hide their crime and destroy the evidences by cleaning the crime spot with dung water.
