Cuttack: Man Attacked By Son-in-law Over Girl Child's Birth

Cuttack, Nov 21: In a shameful act, a man has become a victim of his son-in-law's attack here early this morning. The ghastly act has occured due to birth of a girl child. 

The injured man has been identified as Nityananda Kar of Gopinathpur village in Balabhadrapur Gram Panchayat under Baideiswar police station in Banki area of Cuttack district. 

Kar's daughter gave birth to a girl child much to the dismay of his son-in-law, Manas Kar. Manas reached his in-law's house and had a verbal argument with the family members over the same. He tried to kill the newborn but his attempt was made futile by Nityananda.

On finding Nityananda alone, Manas attacked him with a crowbar and injured him on his head and knee. He was admitted in a hospital. 

Police arrested Manas on the basis of the complaint lodged by his in-laws.
