Couple Killed By Maoists On Suspicion Of Being Police Informers In Kandhamal

Phulbani, Mar 9: The Maoists allegedly killed an elderly man and his wife suspecting the couple to be police informers in a village in Odisha's Kandhamal district on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Daira Kanhar and his wife Notashi Kanhar of Gidapadar village under Gochhapada police station limits in the district.

As per reports, some Maoists arrived in the village late last night. They allegedly dragged the couple out of their house and took them to the nearby forest.

Eventually, the red rebels slit their throats as they suspected them to be the informers of the police and later dumped their bodies in the village.

Panic gripped the villagers as the Maoist violence returned to haunt the tribal district.

Although the villagers alerted the local police in this regard, the police team didn't reach the spot till the report was filed.
