Baleswar, May 27: In a shocking incident, a couple reportedly committed suicide at Parabatipur village of Purushottampur gram panchayat under Baleswar district's Simulia police station last night. 

The deceased have been identified as Manoj Mahakud and his wife Sasmita Mahakud. 

According to the information, Manoj and Sasmita went to bed after having dinner last night. After some time, Sasmita's sister and brother-in-law came and knocked on the door of their room. However, they didn't open.

Subsequently, they along with their family members broke open the door and they were shocked to see that they were lying unconscious with their necks rounded with electric wire.  

While family members and neighbours suspect that the couple committed suicide by electric current, police have started an investigation from different angles. 

However, the exact reason behind the couple taking the extreme step in life is yet to be ascertained.
