Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Tuesday presented performance reports of the country's education sector during the 10 years of the Narendra Modi government.
Pradhan presented the report at a press conference in New Delhi.
"There has been a massive growth in the country's education sector during the last 10 years of the Modi government," claimed the Minister.
He said there have been growths in infrastructure, quality teaching, and budgetary provision for the education sector. The pass percentage has increased in Class X and XII Board exams. Girls have achieved more success than boys in results, he said.
While the pass percentage in the Class X board exam was just 58 percent in the 2013-14 academic year, it has become 95 percent, thus recording a 64 percent rise in results. Similarly, the results in Class XII exams have increased.
The Union Minister said the male-and-female teacher ratio was 53:47 in 2013, which has now reversed to 47:53. Thus, the number of lady teachers has increased by 30 percent in the last 10 years, he said.
He also claimed that the number of colleges has increased by 21 percent during the period.
The Minister compared the performance between 10 years of the UPA government from 2004 to 2014 and the NDA government from 2014 to 2024.
Pradhan said investment in the PM Poshan programme has increased drastically during the 10 years of the Modi government as compared to the 10 years of the Congress-led UPA government.
He said, by virtue of an agreement, NRERT books can be obtained at doorsteps in villages under all the 23,000 PIN Code areas of the country. Flipkart and Amazon have been given this responsibility.
The Minister also stated that teaching review work has been initiated in 32 States.
As many as eight IIMs, one NIT, 16 IIITs, two IISERs, and 42 Centrally sponsored education institutions were established during the 10 years of the Modi government, he said.
